European Union countries should have started paying the US the full cost of weapons delivered to Ukraine three years ago. This was stated by US President Donald Trump, speaking at a conference in Washington dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence.
„We just concluded an agreement with the European Union, according to which it will pay the US 100% of the cost of all military equipment. It will be sent to the EU, then they will distribute it and most of it will go to Ukraine. But you haven't heard such words for a long time, because we invested $350 billion in military supplies to Ukraine, and now we are sending it to Europe, and Europe will pay,“, he said.
“But the Europeans will spend this money in the United States on our defense companies. We will send them the weapons, and they will distribute them. Frankly, this should have happened three years ago,“, Trump added.
“We had a great NATO meeting a few weeks ago. What happened was really incredible. They agreed to increase defense spending from 2% to 5% of national GDP. That's a big difference. That's trillions of dollars,“, the American president said.
