The authorities in Turkey have declared a state of emergency in the province of Izmir and the city of Bilecik, Eskisehir district due to the fires that have burned acres of forest and caused damage to the property and economy of the population. The decision was announced by the Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya on his Facebook profile. Due to the danger to the population and the need for evacuation in the two regions, 85 residential vans will be provided and deployed, BTA reported.

Three fires also broke out in the province of Antalya. The Minister of the Interior of Turkey announced that during the extinguishing of the fires in the period 24-27 July 2025. 1,191 personnel from the Regional Directorate of Emergency Situations (AFAD) and 198 rescue vehicles were involved.

The Gendarmerie has sent 8,953 and 18 small aircraft, and the Security Directorate has sent 1,675 people, 3 helicopters, and 129 specialized vehicles to fight the fire. 237 people from the Coast Guard have been sent to extinguish the fires. Due to the danger to the population, 120 neighborhoods and hamlets have been evacuated.

So far, the fires have caused damage in 9 districts. 311 residential buildings, 16 office buildings and work premises, and 50 barns have been damaged. 1,157 buildings are to be inspected. The fires burned 49 cows, 37 sheep and goats, 171 birds and 4,175 beehives.

To cover the losses and meet current needs, the Turkish government has allocated aid in the amount of 128.4 million Turkish liras, which is equivalent to 2.7 million euros. Aid has also been paid to 396 families from 7 districts.

Due to the fires in the period from May 1 to July 24, 2025, 25 people were detained, and another 47 are subject to judicial control after the Gendarmerie established that they had a role in causing them. During the same period, 184 forest fires broke out in 34 districts.
