A state of emergency has been declared in Russia's Krasnodar region on the Black Sea coast after bad weather caused flooding in the popular Russian resort region, DPA reported, citing the region's governor.
Heavy rains have caused river levels to rise, Veniamin Kondratiev wrote in a post on “Telegram“.
34 houses and 45 related properties were flooded in the villages of Defanovka, Moldavanskoye and Novomikhailovsky in the Tuapse region. An old bridge was washed away in the village of Lermontovo.
The regional crisis team reported that rescue services had rescued 25 people from a bus that had fallen off a bridge. In addition, 40 tourists had been evacuated.
A landslide temporarily disrupted traffic, with rescue teams distributing water to residents in the affected areas.
Kondratiev said that 236 people and 55 pieces of equipment were involved in the rescue operations. However, there is no sign of a significant improvement in the situation, as the weather forecast for the next 24 hours is described as “unfavorable”, notes the DPA.
