Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the initiative of the Ukrainian head of state, the Communications Directorate of the Presidency of Turkey announced on Facebook, BTA reports.
The two leaders discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.
Erdogan expressed satisfaction with the progress in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which are taking place in Istanbul, and expressed hope that the next round will lead to significant results for a ceasefire and achieving lasting peace.
The Turkish president stressed his country's readiness to host a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine. He expressed confidence that the formation of working groups on military, political and humanitarian issues would assist this process.
Erdogan confirmed that Turkey continues to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
