Selçuk Bayraktar, chairman of the board of directors of the high-tech company „Baykar“ and son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was named the biggest taxpayer in Turkey for 2024, „CNN Turk“ reported. The information was provided by the Directorate of Revenue Management, which publishes the list of the top 100 largest taxpayers, BTA reports.
As an individual, Bayraktar has paid the biggest income tax to the Turkish treasury, 2.7 billion Turkish liras, or about 581 million euros. „Baykar“ General Director Haluk Bayraktar is in second place with contributed 2.5 billion Turkish liras (about 530 million euros). Other positions in the top ten are also occupied by members of the company's management.
Since 2021, the two have been at the top of the tax payment rankings, and according to “CNN Turk“ the amount of funds contributed has increased nearly 18 times. The “Baykar“ company is among the ten leading exporters of Turkey with exports of 1.6 billion dollars last year.
The fourth place on the list is occupied by the honorary chairman of “Koc Holding“ Mustafa Rahmi Koc with contributed about 758 million Turkish liras (16.1 million euros), and the tenth - the honorary chairman of “Renaissance Holding“ Erman Alacak with 372.7 million liras (7.8 million euros).
As for companies, the largest corporate taxpayer is the bank “Garanti“ with 25.2 billion Turkish liras (5.2 billion euros), followed by “Ziraat Bank“ with 20.8 billion liras (4.3 billion euros). In third place is the “Kuwaiti-Turkish Bank“ with 12 billion liras (2.5 billion euros).
