A firefighter has died after suffering a heart attack while fighting a wildfire in the US state of Montana, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
Paramedics attempted to revive him, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he died Sunday afternoon.
The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, is one of more than 700 firefighters battling the blaze, which was sparked by lightning strikes on Tobacco Root Mountain, about 15 miles (24 km) north of Virginia City.
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte said in a statement offering condolences to The family called the deceased firefighter a "fallen hero".
Meanwhile, ten structures, including four homes, burned in a wildfire in central Oregon, where thousands of residents were ordered to evacuate today.
Authorities said firefighters were working through tough terrain amid dry weather and high temperatures to save hundreds of other buildings near the blaze, which has now spread to 35 square miles and spans Deschutes and Jefferson counties.
Only about 15 percent of the blaze is contained so far, and the fire continues to threaten nearly 4,000 homes, fire department spokesman Gert Zutenjik said.
A heat advisory is in effect for the area through Wednesday, and forecasters warned that potential thunderstorms could lead to erratic winds that will create difficulties in extinguishing the fire.
