The European Union will provide the largest support to Ukraine so far this year, amounting to 25 billion euros. This was stated by the head of European diplomacy Kaia Kalas before the European Parliament today, BTA reports.
„International efforts to end the war in Ukraine have been increasing in recent months, but Russia's response is still aggression. Putin has no interest in achieving peace and will not stop the war until he is forced to,“ said Kallas at the first session of the new parliamentary season.
She pointed out that the EU has provided nearly 169 billion euros in financial support since the start of the full-scale war in 2022.
“This includes over 63 billion euros in military aid. This year alone, the EU will provide the largest support so far - 25 billion so far“, noted Kallas. “The goal of providing 2 million ammunition per year has been met by 80 percent, and we expect it to be met by 100 percent by October. We are doing all this so that Ukraine can defend itself and its citizens from aggression“.
She also recalled that the EU has so far imposed 18 packages of sanctions on Russia over its aggression against Ukraine.
