In recent days, Vidin has reported a significant increase in calls to the 112 hotline from patients with flu symptoms. There are also more people waiting in front of general practitioners' offices. People between the ages of 30 and 64 are mainly affected, but the elderly are the most cautious, BNT specifies.
In some of the departments, there is a need for more beds to accommodate the sick. The incidence in Vidin reached 254 per 10,000 people and exceeded epidemic values, which necessitated the introduction of measures to limit the spread.
"Scheduled consultations for pregnant women and children are being suspended. Preventive examinations and mandatory immunizations are being suspended. In kindergartens and schools, the morning filter is being strengthened, the examination of children is being strengthened, so that sick children and staff are not allowed to work", explained Dr. Pepa Tsvetanova, director of the "Surveillance of Infectious Diseases" Directorate at the RHI - Vidin.
"Within 24 hours, many children fall ill with symptoms of high fever, vomiting, abdominal pain. We will most likely start working with masks, as the children are sneezing and coughing," said Snezhana Gancova, speech therapist at the "Zornitsa" Kindergarten.
Tomorrow schools will be open, because at least for now the number of absent students does not require a flu vacation to be declared.
"Of course we are monitoring the situation, it is very dynamic, especially during this period, sometimes it changes drastically in two days, both the number of sick people and the incidence, and it is possible that the number of sick people of school age will increase," said Dr. Pepa Tsvetanova, director of the "Surveillance of Infectious Diseases" Directorate at the RHI - Vidin.
