Vice President Iliana Yotova told journalists that she continues to expect “solid and serious arguments“ why attempts are being made to take away the powers of the presidential institution and to change the rules for the services, Nova TV reports. “This will end as the majority decided, but it is clear that it is not stable at all“, Yotova said, but emphasized that a similar attempt has already been made and was subsequently canceled. According to her, the entire campaign is directed personally against President Rumen Radev and against the institution he represents, motivated by the fear of his high rating.

“The State with a capital D“ and the role of parliament

Yotova also commented on the expression “state with a capital D“, used by the leader of the Bulgarian People's Rights Party Delyan Peevski, stating that it remains to be seen what this means in the actions of the ruling majority and in parliament. According to her, it is the reactions of the deputies that will be indicative of whether the role of statehood will be strengthened or weakened. “After these statements, it seems that the contradictions and conflicts within the government have increased“, she noted.

“As a Bulgarian citizen, I wish for the stabilization of the country“, said Yotova, expressing concerns that intrigues and crises could fall on the backs of the people. She emphasized that many of the promises of the ruling party – about price controls and a better economic environment – have not yet been implemented.

Comment on the National Water Board

Regarding the national board, which met due to the water shortage in various places in the country, Yotova pointed out that the presidential institution was not invited to participate in this format, but expressed hope that the decisions would be balanced and proportionate to the interests of all citizens.
