The government has paid nearly 3,684,900,000 leva more for salaries in 2025 compared to 2024. This amount represents an increase of 18.2%. This was reported by the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkov at the beginning of the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers. The accelerated pace at which the National Recovery and Resilience Plan is being implemented has also led to an increase in the payment of capital expenditures by 2 billion leva.

“We can categorically say that any rumors that Bulgarian citizens are becoming poorer and incomes are decreasing are absolutely false“, said Petkova.

Salaries in education have increased by 907.2 billion leva, and salaries in healthcare have increased by over 98 million leva - 8.3% more compared to last year.

Revenues in defense have increased by 633,300,000 leva compared to last year, and in the police and internal order by 1,280,500,000 leva.

“Social and health insurance payments in 2025 so far, based on current legislation, are 4.161 billion more than in 2024, or here the growth is 12%, including pensions. In relation to them, there is a growth of 11.2% and 2.428 billion leva more money has been paid for pensions“, the Minister of Finance reported.

“The results are quite eloquent. Any theses related to the fact that Bulgarian citizens are becoming poorer are absolutely unfounded“, Temenuzhka Petkova was categorical.
