The safest way to exchange levs for euros is through the banking system. This way, there are no risks and no costs. This will generate a positive effect in the economy of almost 1 billion leva. This was explained in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Angelova, general secretary of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria and deputy chairman of the Economic and Social Council, before a conference on possible fraud surrounding the adoption of the euro.
Exchange rates are currently harming citizens, she emphasized about the exchange of so-called money under the mattresses at exchange offices.
"The best thing right now is not to rush into these exchange offices. After the New Year, everyone will be able to exchange packages under 10,000 leva, which are not subject to declaration, in different banks."
There has been a clear increase in counterfeit euro banknotes over the past year, added Assoc. Prof. Angelova.
In the program "Predi viss" she called on the elderly not to succumb to hysteria.
"The Bulgarian people's folk psychology is to have money for rainy days, the collapse of the banking system also contributed to this. The truth is that the more such money is kept under mattresses and in jars, the less its value. It is exposed to inflation, robberies, fraud. Elderly people do not trust the banking system – "It is better to exchange the funds after the New Year than to give in to this hysteria now, lose money and be exposed to risks," advises Milena Angelova.
The information meetings on the introduction of the euro, which are held in various cities in the country, are well attended, the general secretary of the AIKB also said.
