“Information has reached us that as Foreign Minister from GERB, Mariya Gabriel had correspondence with Great Britain to remove Bulgarian citizens from Great Britain's sanctions list. The question is whether GERB - from the Foreign Minister, from Temenuzhka Petkova, from the Prime Minister, is making such efforts now to remove Peevski and his lieutenants from the Magnitsky sanctions list and from Great Britain's list.” This was stated to the media on the sidelines of the parliament by the co-chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria” Bozhidar Bozhanov.

“The leftist government proposes an increase in pension insurance by 10%. Thus, every family with two workers with an average salary for the country will pay 100 leva more.” This was stated by the MP from PP-DB Martin Dimitrov and emphasized that this proposal of the ruling party for Budget 2026 is one of the largest increases in the tax and social security burden in many years. It will lead to an increase in the shadow economy, a slowdown in growth, a decrease in economic activity.

“We warned that either there must be measures to reduce spending, or we will go towards an increase in taxes and social security contributions and this is already happening”, said Dimitrov. And he reminded of the dozens of bills submitted by PP-DB that provide for cost efficiency. Among them are public procurement tenders by hospitals when they use public resources, notifying patients about health services provided to them in order to avoid draining the health fund through fictitious ones, a revision of the TELKs, civil servants to pay their own insurance, a phased release of employed pensioners, as well as not spending the 5.5 billion leva that was collected in the BDB and BEH. According to the economist, billions could be saved with these and many other measures, but they have not been adopted by the ruling party, and in turn the government has not made a single proposal for reducing costs.

Asked about the BSP's idea of introducing progressive income taxation, the MP replied that it would lead to more gray economy and less revenue in the budget. “The flat tax must be preserved at all costs. It gave very good results right from its introduction, when tax revenues increased,” said Martin Dimitrov.
