The mechanism for supporting households due to the increase in fuel prices will be activated by the end of the month, with the assistance being transferred directly to people's bank accounts. This was revealed to "This Morning" on bTV by the acting Minister of Labor and Social Policy Hasan Ademov.

According to him, the mechanism was developed by an interdepartmental working group under the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria with the participation of various institutions, including the National Revenue Agency. It provides for financial assistance for people with lower incomes if a permanent trend of fuel price increases is established, news.bg recalls.

The support will amount to about 20 euros per month per car. Individuals with an average monthly income of up to twice the poverty line will be entitled to it. Currently, the poverty line is around 390 euros, which means that people with an income of up to around 780 euros per month will be able to receive the aid.

"If we assume that the average monthly fuel expenditure of a household is around 100 euros, and prices increase by around 20%, this means an additional expenditure of approximately 20 euros. That is why the aid is in this amount," explained Ademov.

The aid will be provided automatically and people will not have to submit applications. Income data will be checked through the databases of the National Revenue Agency. If a family has more cars registered to different persons, it is possible for each owner to receive 20 euros.

The Social Minister stressed that the measure will be in effect as long as the trend of high fuel prices persists.
