PP-DB were sent to the Bulgarian parliament to dismantle the leadership of GERB. Instead, they are now begging the studios for a government with them. We need an alternative. This was stated by MEP Petar Vitanov on the air of "Bulgaria morning".
"For me, it was logically more normal to have a government, but these two main political entities are like oil and water, they hardly mix. From what I see, one thing is clear - the internal passions dominate over European ones, because the narrative was very often used that the embassies need a stable government in Bulgaria, given the crises that are very close to our borders. It turned out that domestic passions are stronger than any European desire," he explained to Bulgaria ON AIR.
Vitanov is adamant that from the very beginning there was no way these two political parties could create something lasting and sustainable.
GERB leader Boyko Borisov said earlier today that he was put under pressure by foreign ministers.
"I don't believe Borisov's words. He has been a political player for 20-25 years, and sometimes he is compared to a deserving artist from the National Theater. However, I assume that our European partners rely on a serious government that is sustainable. Moreover, he is a representative of the European People's Party and it is extremely important for them to have partner offices in places on the eve of the European elections. I am not surprised by the expressed desire from the West to have a government", the MEP stressed.
In a possible next election, Vitanov believes that the next government will be cast by GERB-SDS and DPS, if no alternative party appears.
"What I expect is that GERB will have a stronger result, I guess DPS will also have a higher result and with the help of some small political force to rule the next 4 years. If no alternative is created. People do not trust the product that is presented to them. All this could change if people who enjoy public trust take a more active role on the political scene," the guest added.
