The business must prepare for the processing of the cash registers when switching from leva to euros. And the state should prepare the capacity for the relegalization of some of the devices. Online stores will switch to reporting in euros much easier and faster than other businesses. This is what the IT specialist and chairman of the Bulgarian Association for Business Software Development Yasen Tanev told BNR.
"From the day we decide that we will accept the euro, we have to go through a period in which we will initially only know that we have accepted it. One month later, we should start showing both prices, with the leading currency being the BGN. From the date on which the euro is adopted as the official currency, the leading price must be converted into euro, only leva should be displayed, and then at some point the leva should disappear entirely.
If we mean that a month after we decide that we are entering the Eurozone we have to start doing this, it means that the cash registers have to be redesigned, we have to have functionality that can understand both currencies, it has to be able to change modes and 3 modes, it must be able to continue to write the data correctly in the fiscal memory", he explained.
In his words, we must prepare for this from now on. According to him, the cash registers, systems and software will most likely have to be reworked.
"Don't relax, don't think that the euro will just appear. Everyone who is connected with cash systems, fiscal systems should understand that a transition is coming. We must be active citizens in order to make this transition as easy and effective as possible," Tanev urged.
In his words, it is about 300 - 400 thousand active companies. He addressed business, software companies and the state:
"To business - request a plan for the transition to the euro. To my colleagues in the software industry - prepare, don't relax. Although the date is not clear, we all hope it will be soon. I would also say to the state - not only business is changing from lev to euro, but the state is also changing, so the state's systems must be revised as well. There is a lot of preparatory work so that we do not expose ourselves and are not surprised by the transition from lev to euro.
