Former Interior Minister: Chief Secretary Zhivko Kotsev's behavior is reprehensible

Protocols of interrogations should not be leaked to the media

I want to believe that what is happening right now is a real battle with corruption. We won't know that anytime soon, though, because we need to see a conviction, and that will take months or years.

This is what he said in the show "Face to Face" on bTV the national security expert and former interior minister Prof. Veselin Vuchkov, who commented on the scandals of the last days in the state.

"The behavior of the general secretary Zhivko Kotsev, whom I have known for at least 15 years, is reprehensible, at least from a moral and ethical point of view. He had to select his contacts. The damage to the Ministry of Internal Affairs is serious. Zhivko Kotsev was a good policeman and had a good professional career, which unfortunately ended this way. It is even more regrettable that he was the leading professional figure in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and it has come to this. I personally have not heard of his "plays" and now I feel bitter. It will be very bad if it turns out that Kotsev was involved in smuggling," he added.

"Interrogation reports cannot be leaked to the media. This is absolutely unacceptable, because this is how public opinion is manipulated. No guilt has yet been proven and I will be following this pre-trial very closely. Unfortunately, this pre-trial process has already achieved its goal, which is that now the election campaign will take the form of a mud fight, everyone will be focused on ingots, tutus, poodles and no one will be interested in the programs of the parties in the sectors " justice" and "security". We cannot now say that the current interior minister and the Ministry of the Interior will not deal with the organization of the elections and the buying of votes. This also contributes to the mistrust of the institutions and the political class, and this mistrust is currently very high," Prof. Veselin Vuchkov concluded.
