Unstable parties cannot produce a stable government. In DPS, the last instance is Dogan. The party is clearly shaken, Peevski started a purge. Dogan will have to rebuild his strength in the structures. This is currently happening. But it is obvious that there is tension.
This is what the political scientist Teodor Slavev from the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives said in an interview with BNR.
"We are in a soap opera in Bulgaria with the political processes,", he states and predicts "a rather unpleasant road from now on".
DPS is one of the most opaque parties in Bulgaria, noted Slavev. In his words, "in other similar upheavals in the DPS, the end result was that Dogan always wins.
According to Slavev, "there is no way back" and "there will be consequences for the current leadership of DPS" in the face of Delyan Peevski.
DPS derives its legitimacy from the historical role of Ahmed Dogan. Peevski is not the first against whom Dogan will face, added the analyst in the program "Before all".
The institutions-clubs, which are managed by oligarchic circles, are not from yesterday, Teodor Slavev also pointed out in the program "Before all". According to him, people from the DPS are worried "whether tomorrow they won't wake up with pre-trial proceedings or start calling them for questioning".
In connection with the handing over of the second mandate to the DPS, Slavev does not expect to see Peevski there, but it is not clear whether the DPS will immediately return the folder with the mandate "or they will simulate negotiations".
"Borisov does not want to grab the hot potato. He is still in charge. If he didn't have an outlet and access to power, he would have made much greater efforts," he said.
Slavev believes that since the executive power is still "tied in a towel", Boyko Borisov chooses not to waste time politically and reputationally with the creation of a regular government.
