A fire broke out at the entrance to Harmanli – on the old road to Istanbul. The fire started from the "Gergana" parking lot. and crossed over to the other side of the road. The fire affected the coniferous forest. The flames were very close to a gas station, eyewitnesses say, bTV reported.
Everyone working both at the gas station and in the nearby warehouses has already been evacuated.
The farmers from Harmanli immediately brought out their equipment and started making clearings to contain the fire.
At the moment there are no reports of injured people, according to the police.
Two women tried to pass through the roadblock as they were unable to contact their loved ones – one is working in the parking lot where the fire started, and the other lives in a cottage in the pine forest that caught fire.
The situation is complicated because the fire can enter the city.
The area is guarded by police cars, and the law enforcement authorities do not allow people to approach the fire.
