"I don't think there is a chance with the third mandate , after the first two attempts were unsuccessful. It was clear after the first term that we were heading for early elections in October. These are conversations that will rather be used in the context of the upcoming election campaign with a view to positioning the parties in it, rather than looking for some positive result.
This was stated by the political scientist Assoc. Milen Ljubenov in the studio of "The Day ON AIR".
"After the request of GERB and what remained of the DPS around Peevski, that they will categorically not support this third mandate, the very handing over and retention of this mandate makes sense. In purely state terms, it is very important when these elections will be held, because if they are in October it is one thing, but there is a risk that they will be earlier. It is good for ITN to retain the mandate for a while. This will be politically responsible behavior, and last but not least, the formation itself has purely party interests," commented political analyst Prof. Svetoslav Zhivkov to Bulgaria ON AIR.
He noted that the ITN had suffered some electoral damage from its inability to form a cabinet a few years ago.
"A detention and some negotiations, which will have their significance regarding the future configurations in the future 51st National Assembly, will help the ITN to accumulate additional electoral resources," added Prof. Zhivkov.
Both commentators also drew attention to the growing anti-establishment vote and anti-establishment parties.
"The more serious problem is the strengthening of the anti-system vote, which will increase,", according to Prof. Zhivkov.
"The problem is with the systemic parties, because everyone expects them to form a sustainable government, and they cannot cope with this task. It is a party system in which certain anti-system players with more radical speech are trying to take advantage of this created situation of instability. The instability itself is provoked by systemic players. It will be difficult to see stabilization of the party system, there is no way it will be stable, since the participants in it are unstable", Assoc. Lyubenov was categorical.
