Two firefighters were injured when extinguishing a fire in the Bandera forest area between the town of Varshets and the village of Dolna Bela Rechka, reports the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs-Montana.
The two employees of the “Specialized operational activities“ at the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” (RDPBZN) Montana were injured on August 11 when a fire truck overturned during firefighting.
After an emergency call was made, the two victims were taken to the Multidisciplinary Hospital for active treatment “Dr. Stamen Iliev” in Montana. One of them has a cut wound on the arm and has been released for home treatment. More seriously, the victim has three broken ribs and difficulty breathing, he was transported to the general hospital in Vratsa.
The case was examined by an investigator from the District Investigation Department and an investigative case was opened.
The fire above Varshets burned yesterday during the day and until late this night. It is fired by about 50 people – firefighters, foresters from the state forestry farms in the area and volunteers from the municipality of Varshets. It was extinguished tonight as the number of acres burned with low vegetation is being determined. The Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana reported that so far this year there have been no cases of injured firefighters in the region.
