Pleven switches to water mode because of the drought

For the city of Pleven, the city of Dolna Mitropolia, the city of Trastenik and the villages of Bivolare, Bohot, Brestovets, Bukovlak, Kashin, Laskar, Nikolaevo, Opanec, Pobeda, Ralevo, Todorovo and the village of Yasen, the water will be closed from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next day

A water regime has been introduced in the municipality of Pleven due to the ongoing drought. The municipality insists to the Ministry of the Environment and Water to increase the used quantities from regional water sources, BNR reported.

The mayor Dr. Valentin Hristov called an emergency meeting because of the water problems. The specific request is to increase the amount used by the water supply group "Krushovitsa" - respectively from 98 liters per second to 150 liters per second.

In connection with the supply of drinking water to the municipality by the "Black Eight" water supply group; will be observed for equal use of the available water quantities together with the municipality of Lovech, where a water regime is also in force from today (from 10:00 p.m. to 06:00 a.m.).

A regime is being introduced for Pleven and the surrounding villages, said Genoveva Trifonova, spokesperson of VIK:

"For the city of Pleven, the city of Dolna Mitropolia, the city of Trastenik and the villages of Bivolare, Bohot, Brestovets, Bukovlak, Kashin, Laskar, Nikolaevo, Opanec, Pobeda, Ralevo, Todorovo and the village of Yasen, the water will be shut off from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next day. But in the event that the incoming water quantities from the "Black Eight" group during the day are critically low, it is possible that on some days the water will be shut off from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.".
