PP-DB MP and chairman of the “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria” Atanas Atanasov expressed doubt that “somewhere in Moscow, President Rumen Radev's buttons are being pushed”. Atanasov's words are regarding the head of state's proposal for a referendum on the euro.
"What President Rumen Radev did was commented on a lot by different parties. But the question here is who pushed his button. This is very interesting. "I'm starting to think, based on the information I have, and you know I'm an informed person, that somewhere in Moscow these buttons are being pushed," Atanasov told journalists in parliament after announcing the initiative pitai.bg.
He stressed that Radev could learn from the PP-DB regarding the initiative, which they had been preparing for a month, but noted that the president apparently "has very little time left to be in politics."
Atanasov also explained the goal of the platform: "Quick contact with Bulgarian citizens for every question they have towards the government, and through us to enter the plenary hall."
The presentation of the initiative was also attended by MP Yordan Ivanov. According to him, it is aimed at all Bulgarian citizens, not just PP-DB activists, and in addition to the Bulgarian level, it is also at the European level through MEP Radan Kanev.
„We know that mayors do not answer municipal councilors, journalists. We know that ministers, when they receive questions from citizens, remain silent, and give answers to MPs. That is why we give the right to parliamentary control to Bulgarian citizens“, added Ivanov.
„The platform allows us to receive more questions and it is much easier for citizens to reach the authorities and raise their questions”, explained MP Yavor Bojankov. He added that he joined the platform because „undoubtedly parliamentary control is a basic function of parliament”.
„It is carried out in the so-called reception, but in the digital age, through this platform they can easily reach their representatives and raise their issues with the authorities. It is normal for parliamentary control to be digitalized”, believes Bozhankov.
