PP will propose in the SOS its option for an economic transport framework with 150 leva maximum possible increase for each employee and 100% on the bonus (for service workers and drivers, not everyone equally), which guarantees an increase of 600 leva. This is an opportunity for an increase in salaries for deficit positions, announced in the studio of "Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov" municipal councilor from PP Dragomir Ivanov.
We recall that after a six-day strike for higher salaries, surface urban transport gradually resumed its movement from the evening of May 19. This decision of unions and workers was reached after the state allocated 15 million. leva for the four municipal transport companies.
Municipal councilor Dragomir Ivanov, who is a member of the Budget and Finance Commission, expressed the opinion that the six-day transport blockade was not caused by Mayor Terziev and his inaction.
"The blockade was an active event on many levels, illegal disobedience and a blockade of Sofia. Borisov himself told us that Sofia residents must suffer the change. Terziev tried to talk to the protesters, made the only possible adequate offer - for 100 leva on top of salaries, but this was refused. The next day the proposed amount was 180 leva, and the next - a 100 leva bonus for drivers and employees in the garages. The mayor did his job, but he was not heard. Until Borisov decided to "throw some money over the edge" to unclog the transport. The 15 million leva allocated by the government will not be available for next year. In my opinion, only those who deserve it should receive an increase," Ivanov said.
The government's intervention came after Terziev failed to reach an agreement with the protesters and end the transport blockade of the capital.
With the funds allocated by the cabinet, the demands of the unions for a salary increase should be met by the end of the year, but how the money will be distributed will be decided by the Sofia Municipality. It is believed that the employees' demands for a 300 leva increase in the basic salaries in the four transport companies in the capital will be satisfied. And Borisov demanded the resignation of the capital's mayor.
The Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee on Environment, Agriculture and Forestry in the SOS - Lorita Radeva from GERB, does not believe that Terziev's urgent actions are a done deal.
"Since the beginning of 2025, the Transport Committee has been demanding the economic framework for the sector. Until the day of the protest, it was not provided to the municipal councilors, no negotiations can be held with unclear parameters. This extinguishing of the fire on the day of the fire is a manifestation of an irresponsible attitude to the problems. In my opinion, the amounts for the increase in transport workers should not be transferred to their bonuses, because if the schedules are delayed due to traffic, these amounts are cut. That is, they would rarely receive their bonuses", commented Radeva.
Meanwhile, the directors of two of the waste collection companies that serve 1/3 of Sofia's districts were heard in the Sofia Municipal Commission for Ecology.
After the companies threatened last Thursday that they would stop collecting waste in eight districts from May 19 due to unpaid funds for activities performed by the municipality, they decided to give a postponement and will make a decision after today's hearing.
The Sofia Municipality owes them nine million leva on invoices issued since December last year. Mayor Vasil Terziev explained that the problem lies in the limited financial framework.
According to Dragomir Ivanov, once the budget is adopted, everything will be paid on time. "There was no possibility to pay, we work with limits, for each calendar month we have funds to cover current expenses. It is not true that there are expiring contracts for garbage collection", he explained.
The municipality gave the Ministry of Finance a period of 3 days to decide on the public procurement for garbage collection. Mayor Vasil Terziev has sent a third letter to the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova with an appeal to move the procurement forward.
"After the mayor has been holding talks since January 5 about the garbage collection crisis, it is not appropriate to make suggestions that this is a political blockade that coincided with the transport one. Terziev has not done his job on this topic either. Six garbage collection contracts expire on March 2", believes Lorita Radeva.
