"Dzhevdet Chakarov's unilateral decision to leave the post of chairman of DPS is a pathetic personal capitulation to Peevski. Such actions are in sharp contrast to the moral and democratic principles on which the "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" party is built. This is stated in a declaration by the parliamentary group of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – DPS" (DPS - DPS) and the Central Operational Bureau (COB) of DPS, distributed to the media. The party's Central Executive Committee is currently meeting on the morning decision of Dzhevdet Chakarov to resign as chairman of Dogan's party.
Earlier today it became clear that Dzhevdet Chakarov is resigning as chairman of the DPS party after a meeting with Delyan Peevski, announced by "DPS - New Beginning".
"We categorically state that there can be no unification with people who oppress, repress and mistreat an entire community. There is no unification and there cannot be with traitors! Dzhevdet Chakarov betrayed the cause, our ideals, our values, betrayed 200 thousand voters, betrayed the trust of Mr. Dogan", the political force emphasizes.
"The parliamentary group of DPS - DPS remains united. All of us, together with the structures and organizations, as well as over 200,000 voters, continue our common path together. In the near future, we will determine the specific steps outlined more than 35 years ago - on the path of values, democracy, and the defense of rights and freedoms. The fight for the cause continues - it is just beginning. Because the cause is stronger than fear, and the truth - stronger than addictions", the MRF declaration also states.
