Bulgaria must do everything possible to evacuate its citizens from the Middle East. There are risks, they may not be direct at the moment, but they are indirect due to the comparative proximity, including because of oil and potential refugee waves. This was commented on in "Speak Now" by PP-DB MP Bozhidar Bozhanov.
"I hope that our services, while engaged in domestic political engineering, will also do their main job. De-escalation is needed", he pointed out. Asked about "engineering" Bozhanov explained that he was referring to Denyo Denev, who is now acting chairman of the National Security Agency, and in 2023, according to him, ordered the abolition of machine voting for local elections.
"Reforms in the services are needed because they interfere in political processes. Plamen Tonchev himself has repeatedly held party positions in parliament and made political statements that are unbecoming of a chairman of counterintelligence. His early retirement from the dossiers committee also raises many questions as to whether there are any behind-the-scenes rearrangements".
Regarding the requested resignation of Daniel Mitov - according to Bozhidar Bozhanov, it depends on the ruling party.
"Kalin Stoyanov, when we asked him to resign while we were in government, it was not granted because he relied on Borisov's support and the impossibility of being replaced. Now Daniel Mitov has also become dependent on Peevski's support. The problem is not who is demanding whose resignation. The problem is police violence - it is not from Varna, it is not from the protests against the Bulgarian Football Union, it is not from 2020. These are systemic problems."
According to Bozanov, this "erodes trust in the government", especially in combination with "the government's dependence on Peevski, which is already clear even to people who turn on their TV once a week."
Bozhidar Bozanov believes that there are also conflicts between GERB and "DPS - New Beginning" and gave an example with their positions on Daniel Mitov's work, as well as their attitude towards "Vazrazhdane".
"New Beginning" directly declared war on "Vazrazhdane", while GERB is protecting not only their immunities, but also Tsoncho Ganev's position. Interesting dynamics that may be situational, but may also be part of a longer plan by Borisov and Peevski.
