Bulgarian teams won 3 silver and 5 bronze medals at the European Physics Olympiad

For the first time, our country is hosting the prestigious international forum

Huge recognition and congratulations to the young talents and their teachers. Physics and science are the engines of human progress and such events are a source of pride for Bulgaria. With these words, the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev congratulated the participants in the ninth European Physics Olympiad. Our country hosted the prestigious international forum for the first time, welcoming talented high school students from 40 countries from all over the world.

At the end of the closing ceremony, Minister Valchev awarded gold medals to the best-represented students from different countries - Romania, Estonia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Germany, etc.

The Bulgarian teams managed to win three silver and five bronze medals, as well as a certificate for good achievements. Hristo Hristov from the "Paisiy Hilendarski" Secondary School, Svetoslav Arabov from the "Dr. Petar Beron" Secondary School in Varna and Iliya Nikov from the "Vasil Drumev" Secondary School in Veliko Tarnovo won the silver medals. Bronze medals were awarded to Yunxin Hu from the "Paisiy Hilendarski" Secondary School, Alexander Nikolov and Iliya Vassilev from the "Pachmag" Secondary School in Sofia, Daniel Koinov from the "Nancho Popovich" Secondary School in Shumen and Petar Petrov from the "Dr. Petar Beron" Secondary School in Varna. Albert Ivanitsov from the "Pachmag" Secondary School in Sofia received a certificate for good performance.

The Minister also congratulated all the organizers for the good hosting in Sofia - the National School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics "Acad. L. Chakalov“, where the competitions were held, the Association of Olympic Teams in Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski and experts.

The European Physics Olympiad is a global educational platform that not only encourages competition, but also true scientific thinking. It is held in two stages - practical and theoretical, which gives students the opportunity to show their skills in the field of physics. The tasks resemble real scientific research, as participants develop critical thinking, creativity and skills for solving complex cases.

The event also stimulates international cooperation, preparing young talents for a real scientific career.
