The Prosecutor's Office with the first data on the action in the "Botash" case

The pre-trial proceedings were initiated by a decree of a prosecutor in the State Prosecutor's Office dated 16.08.2024 based on materials received by the State Prosecutor's Office, collected during an inspection of the State Agency for National Security

Under the leadership and supervision of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office (SPO), the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is conducting an investigation into pre-trial proceedings initiated in the "Botash" case.

Currently, procedural and investigative actions are being carried out to collect and verify evidence.

Documents are requested by letters (in accordance with Art. 159 of the Code of Civil Procedure) from the Ministry of Energy, "Bulgargaz" EAD and "Bulgartransgaz" EAD.

In the conditions of urgency, a search is being carried out in the home of Rosen Hristov in order to discover, fix, seize and preserve objects and belongings that may be relevant to the case.

The pre-trial proceedings were initiated by a decree of a prosecutor at the State Police Headquarters dated 16.08.2024 on the basis of materials received by the State Police Headquarters, collected during an inspection by the State Agency “National Security“.

The subject of the investigation is the contract of the Bulgarian company “Bulgargaz“ EAD with the Turkish energy company “Botaş“, the circumstances surrounding its conclusion and whether the contract caused damage to the state.

The investigation is being conducted because in December 2022 by an official, sufficient care was not taken for the management, administration and management of the property entrusted to him upon conclusion of the contract, and this resulted in significant damage to “Bulgargaz“ EAD, as the crime is of particularly large proportions and constitutes a particularly serious case (Art. 219, para. 4 of the Criminal Code).

A number of specific instructions have been given for the collection of evidence, which are being implemented by the Criminal Procedure Code under the leadership and supervision of the State Prosecutor's Office.

The results of the actions carried out today are to be reported to the supervising prosecutor.
