Road expert Diana Rusinova from the European Center for Transport Policies published alarming results from measurements of the adhesion of the asphalt coating on a section of road II-13 at kilometer 65+930. According to the data, the section that the "Road Infrastructure" Agency officially declared safe remains extremely dangerous for traffic.
"This section is categorically not safe! As long as the adhesion values remain below the minimum standards, the accidents here will not stop," Rusinova wrote in a post on the social network Facebook.
The measurements conducted by the experts of the European Center for Transport Policies show alarming results. Significant parts of the route have SRT values below the minimum safe limit of 55 units, which means a high risk of serious road accidents.
"The analysis of the results shows significant segments that are in the range of 35-45, far below the required 55. In the worst sections, the values drop to 20-25 SRT, which is extremely dangerous, especially in wet conditions,", explained the road expert.
According to Rusinova, the inspection was carried out in order to establish whether the RIA has implemented the short-term measures that it has set for itself. The most significant of them - the replacement of the asphalt coating - has not been implemented.
"There are separate short areas with SRT above 55, but they do not compensate for the overall danger. The unevenness in the grip leads to unpredictable behavior of the car during emergency maneuvers," the expert warned.
The problematic section has a bloody history. Just a few months ago, a serious accident occurred at this location with an injured child and a driver, whose legs were later amputated. Despite the tragic incident, road safety measures were not adequately taken.
"You are responsible for every subsequent accident because you declared a road safe, which according to objective data is dangerous,", sent a sharp message to the RIA road expert Diana Rusinova.
