Bogdan Milchev: There is no war on the road! The Ministry of Interior does not care about road safety!

Red card for those who manage our roads!

"This filth that is happening on our roads – Bulgarian citizens must wake up and give a red card to those who manage our roads."

This position was expressed to the Bulgarian National Radio by Dr. Eng. Bogdan Milchev, who heads the Institute for Road Safety and is a former head of the Traffic Police.

"Working in darkness and silence creates outrages on our roads", Milchev said.

The tasks for the repair and maintenance of our roads must become public – now they are in darkness and in drawers, he commented on the program "Predi visci" and pointed out that these are "hollow contracts" and lack of transparency.

"When these tasks are hidden, there is no way to see the unit prices at which the work is assigned to be done. Can you imagine mowing one square meter for 10,000 leva? More than 4 billion per year is spent on our roads. They will shine - our roads, if they are spent for their intended purpose," Milchev said.

There is no war on the roads. This term is used purposefully to harass the population, believes the former head of the Traffic Police, who argues:

"It justifies the possibility that in 2024 over 3 million penalties will be imposed for violations of the law, which means over 8,000 violations per day. This means that we have an industrialization of penalties. This is a matter of the wrong focus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry of Interior is focusing on catching violations that are the easiest to catch, without any relation to road safety!"

Over 90% of the cars confiscated for alcohol use are those worth up to 10,000 leva, cites other data from Eng. Bogdan Milchev.

According to him, there is punitive repression against drivers and a psychosis is being created to push it into the laws.

The average speed is a second toll fee. In no European country is it controlled with toll cameras, Milchev also emphasized.

According to him, the creator of the "Black Track" website has made a mockery of the state, and it, in turn, has tried to sabotage his initiative.
