The police in Varna, together with their colleagues from Ruse, detained “alo” a swindler with a large sum of money. The 52-year-old man was caught at our border with Romania trying to leave the country. The money from a telephone scam that he carried out the same day was also found in it, reports Nova TV.
“We received a report about a man involved in telephone fraud from a resident of Varna. Together with our colleagues from Ruse, we started a search and managed to detain him at the border. In it were found the sums of 4,500 euros and 1,600 dollars”, said the head of the "Crimes against property" sector. in ODMVR – Varna Zhivko Kostadinov.
According to the police, the 52-year-old was also involved in other frauds. “The total amount for which he is responsible is about BGN 70,000. In some of the frauds, gold jewelry was also handed over, Kostadinov added.
According to him, the scenario that the phone fraudsters in Varna use is that a specialized police operation is being conducted to catch criminals. By calling people to assist them, posing as senior police officers.
