Aalborg Airport in Denmark Closed Due to Drones VIDEO

A Total of Four Flights Affected

The airport in the Danish city of Aalborg has been closed due to drones in the airspace, an airport spokesman said, quoted by Reuters and BTA.

He declined to comment on the number of drones spotted.

The spokesman added that a total of four flights were affected by the situation - two by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), one by Norwegian and one by Dutch carrier KLM.

Through a publication in Ex, Danish law enforcement also confirmed that drones had been spotted in the area, and added that they had launched an on-site investigation.

This comes after Denmark reported that drones disrupted operations at Copenhagen Airport for four hours on Tuesday. It was the most serious attack on critical infrastructure in the Scandinavian country, and authorities there linked it to a series of alleged Russian drone incursions into other countries' airspace and air traffic disruptions across Europe in recent times, Reuters notes.

On Monday evening, authorities in Norway closed the skies over Oslo airport for three hours after spotting a drone.

Norwegian and Danish authorities are in close communication about the cases, but so far their investigation has not established a connection between the incidents, the Norwegian foreign minister said.

Eurocontrol, the air traffic control service over Europe, announced that due to drone activity in the area, Aalborg airport would stop serving arriving and departing flights until 04:00 GMT this morning.
