Heavy rains hit Greece in early October

Over 100 mm of rainfall in 14 regions, the northern and western parts of the country most affected

Heavy rainfall hit Greece in the first days of October. According to data from the meteorological network meteo.gr, significant amounts of rain were recorded in several regions, News.bg reports.

The island of Thassos recorded a record 123 millimeters of rainfall between Wednesday and Saturday lunchtime, the newspaper „Ta Nea“ reported.

A total of 14 stations recorded more than 100 millimeters over the four-day period, with the northern and western parts of the country being the hardest hit.

The unsettled weather continued over the weekend, with rain also falling in central and southern Greece, as well as in the eastern Aegean Sea.

Winds were blowing from the west at force 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, reaching 6 at sea.

Temperatures ranged between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, with cooler temperatures in the northern and northwestern regions.
