The US military has struck another ship off the coast of Venezuela on Saturday evening, President Donald Trump announced, quoted by Reuters and Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
Trump did not provide evidence to support his claim that the ship was transporting drugs. However, he assured that after the strike, there are no more drug trafficking ships in the area.
„In recent weeks, the Navy has supported our mission to blow up cartel terrorists in the water... We did that with another ship last night. "Now there are simply no more of them," the president said during a ceremony in Virginia dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the creation of the US Navy. He added that after the naval operations, drug traffickers would be forced to look for new routes: "(Drug traffickers) will no longer come by sea, so we will have to start looking for them on land." The Venezuelan government has not commented on the case so far. However, President Nicolas Maduro has already condemned, in his words, "American aggression" against the country. This is the latest strike by the US armed forces on a ship suspected of transporting drugs off the coast of Venezuela. According to US authorities, at least 21 people have died in such operations so far, and four vessels have been destroyed.
