The Japanese government announced today that it will appoint 17 new ambassadors, including to Indonesia, the Netherlands, Portugal and Bulgaria, Kyodo news agency reported, BTA reports.
The diplomatic representative in Bulgaria will be 65-year-old Chikahisa Sumi.
The 60-year-old Keiichi Ichikawa, who worked at the Japanese embassy in the US, will be appointed as ambassador to Indonesia. Rokuichiro Michi, 62, will become ambassador to the Netherlands, and Tsutomu Nakagawa, 62, will become ambassador to Portugal.
Among the newly appointed ambassadors, who will take office immediately or next Thursday, are Kazuhiro Kuno, 60, who will become ambassador to Belarus, Koji Abe, 61, to the Vatican, and Koji Yonetani, 60, who will head Japan's mission to ASEAN, Kyodo reported.
