Warsaw: We cannot accept more Ukrainian refugees

Chief Advisor to the President of Poland on Foreign Policy Marcin Przydzic said that his country has already admitted enough citizens from the warring party

Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy Marcin Przydzic said that the large number of Ukrainian refugees in Poland is a "challenge" for the country, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.

He specified that "Poland has already accepted enough Ukrainian citizens and cannot accept more".

"When the scale of accepting refugees exceeds the country's capacity for their adaptation and integration, problems begin to arise - and Poland does not want such problems," he told the Polish TV channel RMF24.

"The Ukrainians already accepted are reaching our limit - we cannot accept more. It is time to focus on their integration, and this process is already underway. But we must not allow separate enclaves to form," Przydzic stressed.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki recently signed the law on assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war into law on a second attempt, after vetoing a previous version in late August, Ukrinform recalls.

Nawrocki also submitted to the Polish Sejm - the highest governing body in Poland - a bill that would extend the minimum period of continuous residence in Poland required to obtain citizenship to 10 years.

Currently, about one million Ukrainian refugees from Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine are residing in Poland.
