US again attacks drug ship in Caribbean Sea, there are survivors among the crew

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sharply criticized the decision announced by the US administration to authorize the CIA to carry out subversive activities against the country

The US armed forces carried out a new attack on a drug ship in the Caribbean Sea and there are survivors among the crew, a US official told Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not provide further details about the incident, which has not been reported so far.

The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sharply criticized the decision announced by the US administration to authorize the CIA "to carry out subversive activities against the country".

„The US government authorizes the CIA to carry out operations against peace in Venezuela, while never before has any American government openly stated that it directs the CIA to kill, to destroy the government and the country“, Maduro said on the Venezolana de Televisi´n television channel.

The president recalled that all military coups in Latin America were carried out with the participation of the CIA, as confirmed by declassified US government documents.

Maduro expressed confidence that US intelligence agencies have not stopped their subversive activities in Venezuela. He stressed that the Republic “will once again defeat the open conspiracy, the interventionist policy aimed at regime change, and will defend the right of the Venezuelan people to peace and stability“.

“The New York Times“ previously reported, citing US officials, that the Trump administration had authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations in Venezuela with the ultimate goal of removing Maduro from power.
