Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today that any peace deal for Ukraine must include addressing the root causes of the conflict, TASS and Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
“We are talking about the roots of the conflict not to prolong it, but to ensure that the outcome will be fundamental, long-term and will ensure sustainable peace“, Zakharova said.
She added that the direction discussed by President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has been clearly stated by the Russian leadership and is being followed as an orientation for the negotiations.
