The students and teachers at the Bulgarian Sunday School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius“ in Istanbul, according to an established tradition, celebrated the Day of the National Revivalists today with a solemn program dedicated to the holiday.
The celebration took place in the representative hall of the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Istanbul, BTA reports.
On a large video screen, the students presented the biographies and deeds of prominent Bulgarian Revivalists and Revivalists. The teaching staff, in turn, surprised those present with a peculiar competition in the form of a quiz on the topic of the Bulgarian language, national life and culture. All students who participated in the quiz received awards, as well as those who showed high results in the educational process.
A greeting on the occasion of the holiday, on behalf of the Consul General in Istanbul Vasil Valchev, was delivered by Consul Teodor Todorov.
The celebration of the Day of the National Awakeners was attended by parents and relatives of the students, as well as guests from Istanbul and Bulgaria.
This year is an anniversary for the Bulgarian Sunday School in Istanbul. It has been 10 years since its establishment - the tenth anniversary was celebrated on May 24, the holiday of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, Slavic writing and Bulgarian culture.
The Sunday School in Istanbul is attended by about 70 children of emigrants from Bulgaria, mixed families and Bulgarians living and working in the city by the Bosphorus.
