The Italian Foreign Ministry has requested a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Rome, Alexei Paramonov, FOCUS reported.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian Ambassador to Italy", Izvestia reports.

It is specified that the Russian Embassy has confirmed receipt of the invitation.

The newspaper Corriere della Sera reported yesterday that France, Italy and Belgium do not support the initiative to use frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine. It was clarified that this was probably done due to concerns about financial obligations.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in connection with the incident with the collapsed tower in Rome: “While the Italian government spends its taxpayers' money senselessly, Italy will collapse everything - from the economy to the towers“.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto confirmed on Monday that his country is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine. The total value of the packages so far is between 2.5 and 3 billion euros.

"Russia will remind Italy that what it sponsored Ukraine is a sin and a crime," Zakharova said in response to the news of the new package.
