Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that the situation in the besieged city of Pokrovsk remains severe and that bad weather favors Russian attacks, the scale of which, according to him, is increasing, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
In a post on social networks after a conversation with the highest Ukrainian military, Zelensky also said that Moscow is increasing its attacks in the southern Zaporizhia region.
The main focus of the front is now in the area of Pokrovsk and Zaporizhia region, where Russian forces are increasing the number and scale of their attacks, he said in a Telegram post, quoted by Ukrinform, after listening to a report by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky.
According to Zelensky, the situation near Kupyansk is a little lighter: “Our forces have achieved results there and this has been repeated over the past few weeks.“
Zelensky and Syrsky also discussed preparations for strikes deep into Russian territory – specific directions and expected results.
“Ukrainian long-range sanctions should come into effect every day, and we are doing this. Thank you for your precision! Glory to Ukraine!“, Zelensky said.
Earlier it was reported that in the Zaporizhia region, specifically in the areas of Oleksandrograd and Gulyaipole, Russian forces have intensified their attacks and shelling. In order to save the lives of servicemen, Ukrainian forces were forced to withdraw from their positions near five settlements - Novouspenivske, Novye, Okhotnyche, Uspenivka and Novomykolaivka.
