Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially received a draft peace plan from the US side, which Washington says could give a new impetus to diplomatic efforts to end the war. This was announced by the presidential administration in Kiev in a statement on Telegram, quoted by the BBC.

According to Zelensky's office, the document contains ideas that could "activate diplomacy" and outline a potential path to a cessation of hostilities.

"The President of Ukraine outlined the principles important to our people, and based on the results of today's meeting, it was agreed to work on the points of the plan in such a way that it ensures a dignified end to the war," the statement said.

The administration emphasizes that Kiev supports all meaningful initiatives that can bring "real peace" closer.

"Ukraine has been striving for peace since the first seconds of the Russian invasion, and we support all meaningful proposals that can bring it closer. Since the beginning of this year, we have supported President Trump's proposals to end the bloodshed. We are ready to work constructively with the US and our partners in Europe and the world so that the result is peace," Zelensky's office said.

The Ukrainian president expects to hold a conversation with President Donald Trump in the coming days to discuss the available diplomatic options and the main points that Kiev believes are necessary to achieve a sustainable peace agreement.

Meanwhile, European foreign ministers reacted cautiously to the news of the US plan. EU foreign policy chief Kaia Kallas said that "no solution is possible without Ukraine and Europe at the table," stressing that it is crucial for the EU that "peace be just, not the result of coercion." According to Kallas, there is "one aggressor and one victim" in the conflict. and there can be no question of concessions only on the Ukrainian side.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot warned that "peace cannot mean capitulation", and a number of other European ministers said they had not yet seen the plan and were awaiting more information from Washington. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stressed that Europe must be "a full participant" in the negotiations and insisted that the aggressor, not the victim, should be restrained.
