Apparently, Ukraine and its European allies are still under illusions and dream of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield, the strongman in the Kremlin also said

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at a meeting of the Russian Security Council and commented on the 28-point American peace plan, which, according to him, the Russian side has received, the BBC confirmed.

As reported by Russian agencies, Putin revealed that this plan was discussed with the United States even before the Alaska summit in August, but then the United States asked Russia to show flexibility. He called the new American text a modernized version of the plan.

Another important quote from Putin's speech at the meeting of the Russian Security Council: according to him, the American 28-point plan can serve as a basis for a peaceful settlement, but it is not being discussed specifically with Russia.

"The reason, in my opinion, is the same: the US administration has still not managed to obtain the consent of the Ukrainian side. Ukraine is against it.

Apparently, Ukraine and its European allies are still under illusions and dream of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield," Putin said.

At the same time, Putin added, Russia is satisfied with the current dynamics on the battlefield and is ready to achieve its goals by military means.

The Security Council meeting, as Putin himself announced at the beginning, was devoted to a different topic.

The priorities of Russia's chairmanship of the CSTO next year, as well as the fight against neocolonialism. Immediately afterwards, however, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko asked the president to comment on the American plan.

This drama is reminiscent of another recent session on November 5, when the State Duma Speaker proposed, off the agenda, to discuss the resumption of nuclear tests.

Unlike that session, at this one, as Putin himself noted, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was not only present, but was also supposed to be the main speaker on the main announced topics.

Lavrov's absence from the Security Council meeting and some other events with the president gave rise to speculation about the minister's fall from grace.

We recall that the current pressure is not an isolated case. This is not the first time that President Donald Trump has used intelligence information as a tool for political pressure on Ukraine.

Following his heated public confrontation with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office on February 28 of this year, Trump ordered a temporary suspension of the intelligence briefings and operational data that American services provide daily to Kiev.

In Kiev, the information is seen as an attempt to expedite the finalization of the 28-point US-Russian peace plan, which was presented to Ukraine earlier this week. Ukrainian authorities have already announced that they are studying the document, but have expressed reservations on key issues related to territorial concessions, the status of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and security guarantees.
