Poland has begun building fortifications on the border with the Kaliningrad region of Russia as part of the "Eastern Shield" program. This was announced today by French military analyst Clement Molin, Censor NET reports.

According to him, three small areas with fortifications have already been identified near the border with Russia. The fortifications include anti-tank ditches, "dragon teeth" and trenches similar to Ukrainian engineering facilities. It is emphasized that such protection must be deeper, since the movement of troops to the border in the event of an invasion is extremely risky.

Molin also noted that traditional fortifications are becoming obsolete due to the threat of drones. Therefore, it is important to take into account the Ukrainian experience during construction - in particular, the transition to hidden positions in forest belts and protected shelters for equipment.

The fortifications began to be built only in the fourth year of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. In addition to Poland, the Baltic countries are strengthening defensive lines along their eastern borders. At the same time, preparations in Lithuania are limited: so far only the "dragon's teeth" have been installed in a small area. In other Baltic countries, work is at the planning or preparation stage.
