The Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC) allowed 22 out of a total of 24 political entities to participate in the early parliamentary elections, which will be held on December 28, the news agency "Economy Online" reported, quoted by BTA.

The largest party of Kosovo Serbs "Serbian List" is not on the list of admitted entities, as it did not receive a sufficient number of votes from the CEC members at yesterday's meeting of the Commission.

The Kosovo Serb Party, which enjoys the support of official Belgrade, was initially not allowed by the CEC to participate in both the regular parliamentary elections on February 9, 2025, and the local elections on October 12 this year. In both cases, however, the Kosovo Election Appeals and Complaints Office (PZAP) ordered the CEC to allow "Serbian List" to participate in the election race.

Serbia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo declared in 2008 and continues to perceive it as part of its territories.

The European Union Office in Pristina expressed regret over yesterday's decision by the CEC to not allow "Serbian List" until the early elections at the end of December, the newspaper "Koha Ditore" reported.

In a statement published last night on social networks, the EU Office said that "The politicization of the CEC by the (ruling in Kosovo) Movement "Self-Determination" (LVV) and other political parties is detrimental to the inclusive electoral process in line with international standards and the report of the EU Election Observation Mission".
