Eight people were killed and four injured in a fire at an apartment building in Shantou, Guangdong Province, south China, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing local authorities.
According to the agency, the fire started at 9:20 p.m. local time on December 9 and was extinguished around 10:00 p.m. The fire covered an area of approximately 150 square meters.
All the injured have been taken to hospital and are receiving medical treatment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
