Will the US attack Iran? Donald Trump said that he hopes to avoid a military strike against the Islamic Republic. We are prepared for all scenarios, they say in Tehran and threaten with an immediate retaliatory strike.

US President Donald Trump said that he hopes to avoid a strike against Iran. He confirmed that another aircraft carrier group is already on its way to the region, but stressed: "I hope we won't have to use it". According to him, talks have already been held with Tehran, and new negotiations are in the process of preparation.

After the brutal suppression of the protests in early January, the United States did not rule out a new military operation against Iran. Warships, including the aircraft carrier USS "Abraham Lincoln", were sent to the region. According to the human rights organization Hrana, over 6,000 people were killed in the brutal actions of the security forces against the demonstrators. Other estimates indicate that the number of victims could reach 25,000.

Iran: We are prepared for all scenarios

The spokesman for the Iranian army, Amir Akraminia, warned the United States not to launch an attack and threatened an immediate retaliatory strike. Akraminia told the Tasnim news agency that Iran would respond to even the slightest attack, and "the consequences could be undesirable for the United States". According to him, the Iranian armed forces can attack American bases with drones, missiles and other weapons.

The possible military clash will not be short and could spread to the entire region, Akraminia also warned, announcing that action plans have already been drawn up and the relevant orders have been sent to the armed forces units. Akraminia also said that in the meantime, the Iranian army has repaired or replaced the anti-aircraft systems that were damaged during the June 2025 war.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Erdogan has offered to mediate in the conflict. Turkey is ready to "take on a mediating role between Iran and the United States to reduce tensions and help resolve the problems," Erdogan said in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart. The reason for the conversation was "escalating military tensions in the region".

Warning: "Regime change would have far-reaching consequences"

In an interview with the American television channel CNN, Iran expert Maha Yahya warned the United States to be cautious about possible coup plans. Regime change in Iran would be extremely complex and would have far-reaching regional consequences, said Yahya, who heads the Carnegie Middle East Center. According to the expert, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei represents not only a political but also a religious reference point for many Shiites around the world. His removal from power could increase religious tensions in some of the countries with significant Shiite communities, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iraq, Yahya believes.

According to her, the leadership in Tehran is in a difficult position. On the one hand, the US demands regarding the nuclear program and uranium enrichment are "maximalist". On the other hand, any concession by Tehran would be perceived as weakness and would further undermine its legitimacy.

US President Donald Trump is demanding that Iran completely abandon uranium enrichment and limit the range of its ballistic missiles - a demand that, according to CNN, the leadership in Tehran categorically rejects.
