Ukraine has received the first delivery of American liquefied natural gas for 2026. This was announced on the social network “Facebook“ (Facebook) by Sergiy Koretsky, CEO of the state energy company “Naftogaz“, Ukrainform reported. “Naftogaz“ has imported about 100 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas from the United States via Poland, Koretsky specified, BTA reported.
“The first delivery of American liquefied natural gas for 2026 has already arrived in Ukraine. It was carried out in partnership with the Polish state company “Orlen“. The gas was unloaded at the terminal in the port city of Swinoujscie in late January and entered Ukraine's gas transmission system, Koretsky wrote.
He said the volume was enough to supply about 700,000 households for one month.
He said Ukraine plans to import a total of up to 1 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas from the United States in 2026. "We are systematically working with international partners to ensure stable energy supplies for the country, including in winter, despite the ongoing attacks on gas and energy infrastructure," Koretsky added.
“Naftogaz“ imported 5.7 billion cubic meters of gas in 2025 to ensure supplies needed for the heating season, the energy company said.
