The Munich Forum starts today and will continue until Sunday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also arrived at the event. It is taking place nearly 4 years after the full-scale invasion that the Russian army carried out in Ukraine.

According to analytical data, throughout 2025, the Russian army has captured 4,831 square kilometers of territory in Ukraine, which is only 0.8% of the entire territory of the country.

Meanwhile, Zelensky also commented on the idea of holding elections in Ukraine during wartime. The idea of elections in Ukraine comes from the Russians, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with "Atlantic" magazine, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.

Zelensky indicated that he is not against holding a referendum on a peace agreement together with the presidential elections, because this will increase voter turnout and make it more difficult for Russia to dispute the results.

However, according to him, this should be an acceptable agreement. "I don't think we should put a bad deal to a referendum," Zelensky said. He also noted that the very idea of holding elections in wartime came from the Russians. "They want to get rid of me", Zelensky added.

According to him, Ukraine is ready for both elections and a referendum. "We are not afraid of anything. Are we ready for elections? We are ready. Are we ready for a referendum? We are ready," Zelensky said. As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ukrainian president said that a ceasefire is necessary for holding a referendum and elections.
