The US president refused to answer a question about the possibility of a US military operation against Cuba, similar to the one in Venezuela.

“I don't want to answer“, he said. “It wouldn't be a very difficult operation, but I don't think it's necessary. Marco Rubio is currently talking to Cuba“, the president added, adding that he believes that the Cuban authorities “should make a deal” with Washington.

Spain announced that it will soon provide humanitarian aid to Cuba through the UN, at a time when the island is gripped by a deep economic crisis, aggravated by pressure from Washington, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

“Spain will provide humanitarian aid (...) to Cuba through the UN system in the form of food products and essential products“, the Spanish Foreign Ministry announced, without specifying the timetable and amount of the aid.

This announcement was made after a meeting in Madrid between Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Álvarez and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez, at which “the current situation in Cuba following the tightening of the US embargo“ was discussed.

Cuba is facing a serious energy crisis after the cessation of oil supplies from Venezuela following the fall of Nicolas Maduro and amid Washington's threats to impose tariffs on countries, who sell oil to Cuba.

Cuba's communist government yesterday introduced a set of emergency measures that limit fuel sales and reduce public transport in the country, which has been hit by power outages and shortages of food and medicine.
