The Iranian armed forces said they had carried out drone strikes on refineries and fuel depots in the city of Haifa, central Israel, in response to "attacks on oil bases in Iran", Reuters reported, citing the Iranian Tasnim news agency, BTA reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have registered a new missile launch from Iran, their press service said. This is the first warning of missiles from Iran since the beginning of the day. The strike was aimed at central Israel.

An urgent warning was sent to mobile phones in the most densely populated part of the country about the possibility of an air raid, a TASS correspondent confirmed, and later reported that an alert had been sounded in Tel Aviv and its surroundings. Explosions were also reported.

Iran launched new attacks on Israel and the Gulf states on Monday, continuing to exert pressure on the Middle East in a conflict that has sent oil prices soaring and shocked global economies, the Associated Press reported.

Five pro-Iranian fighters were killed in an airstrike in Iraq. Air raid sirens sounded early this morning in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Saudi Arabia said it shot down two drones over the oil-rich eastern part of the country, and Kuwait's armed forces said they destroyed six drones.

In addition to launching missiles and drones against Israel and US bases in the region, Iran has also attacked energy infrastructure, which, combined with its control of the Strait of Hormuz, has led to a surge in oil prices, the AP notes.
